OUR GOAL IS TO PROmote a permaculture-based society
At the Hungarian Permaculture Association, we are dedicated to cultivating a sustainable future by promoting permaculture principles and practices. Founded on the core values of care for the Earth, care for people, and fair share, our mission is to inspire and empower individuals, communities, and organizations to create regenerative systems that harmonize with nature.
What We Do
Education and Training
We offer workshops, courses, and hands-on experiences to help individuals and groups develop the skills needed to design and implement sustainable living systems. From beginner-friendly introductions to advanced design practices, our programs are tailored to meet diverse needs. A cornerstone of our educational offerings is the internationally recognized Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) course. This comprehensive program provides participants with the knowledge and practical tools to design sustainable systems in both rural and urban contexts. Graduates of the PDC course gain a solid foundation to apply permaculture principles in their personal and professional lives.
Community Building
We foster connections among like-minded individuals and organizations through events, meetups, and collaborative projects. Together, we create a vibrant network of people committed to ecological and social regeneration.
Advocacy and Outreach
We work to raise awareness about the benefits of permaculture and sustainable living. By engaging with policymakers, schools, and the wider public, we aim to make permaculture an integral part of our society. Our advocacy efforts include lobbying for policies that prioritize sustainability, biodiversity, and climate action. We collaborate with government bodies and institutions to implement systemic changes that foster environmental stewardship and social equity. Through campaigns, partnerships, and research dissemination, we seek to influence decision-making processes and drive forward meaningful social transformation.
Project Support
We assist communities and individuals in bringing their permaculture ideas to life. Whether it’s transforming a garden, designing a sustainable farm, or initiating a community project, our team provides guidance and expertise every step of the way.
Research
We conduct and support research to advance the understanding and application of permaculture principles. Our projects focus on innovative solutions for sustainable agriculture, ecosystem restoration, and community resilience. By collaborating with academic institutions, practitioners, and local communities, we aim to bridge the gap between theory and practice. The insights we generate contribute to the growing body of knowledge in permaculture and inform our educational and advocacy efforts.
Why Permaculture
Permaculture is more than a method—it’s a way of life. By observing and learning from natural ecosystems, permaculture provides practical solutions to modern challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and social inequities. It empowers us to live in balance with our environment while meeting our basic needs and building resilient communities.
